The Canfield Fair is always a highlight of my year, and I’m excited to share that I’ll be there again this week, immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the Arts and Crafts building. It’s such a rewarding experience to be a part of this long-standing tradition, and it’s even more special to contribute in my own way—by demonstrating weaving and spinning.
Before the fair even opens to the public, I’ll be helping to set up the Arts and Crafts building. It’s incredible to watch everything come together, from the careful placement of each exhibit to the final touches that showcase the immense talent in our community. It’s a privilege to be a part of the behind-the-scenes action that brings this creative space to life.
When the fair officially kicks off, I’ll be demonstrating weaving and spinning for two days in the same building. It’s always such a joy to share these skills with attendees, whether they’re seasoned fiber artists or complete beginners. There’s something magical about watching people’s eyes light up when they see spinning in action or when they realize how a loom can turn thread into something beautiful.
But the Canfield Fair isn’t just about the demonstrations—it’s about celebrating all the incredible talent that our local crafters, bakers, and artists bring to the table. From stunning stitched quilts to mouth-watering pies and cakes, there’s an overwhelming sense of creativity on display. Every corner of the Arts and Crafts building is bursting with passion, skill, and dedication, and I leave each year feeling inspired and rejuvenated.
One of the things I love most about the fair is the chance to visit with old friends and make new ones. Whether it’s fellow fiber artists, local crafters, or visitors who stop by to learn more, the conversations are always so meaningful. There’s a shared sense of community, where everyone is eager to exchange ideas, share their experiences, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.
Being at the Canfield Fair is a reminder of how powerful creativity is and how it brings people together. Every year, I walk away with new inspiration, new techniques to try, and a renewed appreciation for the craft. I can’t wait to see you there and share in this celebration of local talent!
